As a painter my interest has long been centered on finding a way to express feelings, thoughts, and emotions in a visual manner. Images abstracted from our earthly environment and from the universe at large continue to serve as an appropriate vehicle for me to express my emotional and intuitive responses to certain ideas and energies: to provide form for that which has most often been experienced in a sensual or spiritual way. Color choices are subjective but value equivalents found in nature are used as a basis for these choices.
Throughout recorded history man has used marks, drawings, images, words and symbols to convey ideas and beliefs as well as to show beauty, to inform, to teach, and to make political, religious, and social statements. Because life is transitory, any work of art can capture only one fleeting moment. Each of my paintings is a reflection of where I am at that time in my life's journey. It is my attempt to record a memory, capture a feeling, share a dream or suggest a glimpse of something that is rare but universal. In essence, it is my search for permanence in an impermanent world; my effort to draw together the conscious and the unconscious into harmonious visual imagery.
